Autumn

Autumn comes early to Tillman Avenue

No more leaves on the trees, no more skies that are blue

But dirty pencils lost in the leaves and mud

and people stomping on them making a big thud

and lots of rubbish thrown on the ground

and when the wind blows the litter scoots around

The flowers don't grow

And what is this is it snow?

Autumn comes early to Tillman Avenue

No more leaves on the trees, no more skies that are blue

And the birds fly around crazily

And people sleeping lazily.
Autumn

  1. Yes, you're right! There always seem to be dirty pencils lost in the leaves in Autumn. I notice that you have tried to keep your ideas connected whilst playing around with the rhyme. That's quite a hard thing to do, so good on you for sticking with it.

  2. I totally agree that pencils seem to be often lost in the leaves in autumn, and that people tend to step over them, ignoring them. I enjoyed this poem.

  4. I notice these things happening all the time especially things like pencils being lost in the piles of leaves and birds going nuts. But at the moment we aren't getting a decent amount of snow to be honest! I think you have used a metaphor when you say that the 'litter scoots around' because when you say that, it sounds like it's actually scooting. I really enjoyed this poem.
